From the Principal: Mr. Meyers
We’re getting ready for some exciting times in the school year throughout the month of May and the first week of June. These months are representative of the culmination of hard work and partnership on behalf of our students, families, and staff. It’s exciting to get to celebrate so many things together, and we know it can be exhausting as well! In the midst of the hustle and bustle of the end of the school year, we hope you get some time to relax as families and celebrate the amazing accomplishments of your children.
As we get ready for Staff Appreciation Week from May 4th-May 8th, I wanted to thank you all in advance for the gestures, kind words, or gifts for our staff. They are never expected, but we are grateful for all that you express.
As the school year hits the final stretch, there will be many field trips and special events, and we hope you have time to take part. Here are just a few of our school-wide celebrations:
- All School Picnic: All families are invited to our all-school picnic on Friday, May 22nd. If you’ve never had a chance to join us for this amazing event, plan on having a great meal with your student! It’s truly a great representation of our school community. Please RSVP at the link in this newsletter for our Nutrition Service team. We hope to see each of you there!
- Field Day: Ms. Franzen is working hard to host Field Day for students on Thursday, May 28th. We will be sending information about volunteer opportunities on behalf of Ms. Franzen soon!
- End-of-Year Assembly: We’ll also be hosting an end-of-year assembly for our students with a recap of the school year, a few awards, and some games! This will take place during the last week of school and will be an exciting springboard to summer for staff and students.
As we get set for the ’26-’27 school year, we want to remind you of a few processes and exciting things happening at Sand Lake:
- Preparation for the 2026-2027 School Year: The Sand Lake office will send timely communication about events that assist in preparation for the next school year. Here are a few items to look out for:
- Annual Update: You will be receiving emails about updating your family information in Infinite Campus. This update is important to help us prepare for your student for the upcoming school year.
- Classroom Assignments: We will be sharing classroom assignments for the 2026-27 school year via email this summer. Teacher requests are not accepted at Holmen elementary schools. Our teachers and administrators work hard to develop class lists that support all students and each child’s needs. You can anticipate your student’s teacher assignment to arrive in your inbox on Monday, August 3rd. This is another reason why it is important to ensure your contact information is up to date by completing the annual update.
- Picture Day: There will be two elementary picture days taking place this year. You can attend either site to get your student’s picture taken.
- August 4th at Prairie View, 7:00 AM - 6:00 PM
- August 5th at Sand Lake, 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM
- First day of School: As a friendly reminder, the 2026-2027 school year starts earlier next year, on Tuesday, August 25th, 2026.
In Partnership,
Matt Meyers

Thank you to everyone who came out on a stormy evening to our Chuck E. Cheese fundraiser last month. We had an amazing turnout!
We would also like to take this opportunity to express our appreciation for your contributions this year. We couldn't support our students, staff, and our entire school community without you!
Our next PTG meeting will be held on Monday, May 4th, at 5:30 pm in the Sand Lake conference room. Childcare will be provided once again! We hope you can join us!
